What is Didú?

Didú is a methodology developed by Estudios Durero for the handling and reproduction of relief images.

In their main application, Didú combines technological, artistic and pedagogical tools to convert a digital image into one that can be touched and has meaning not only for the eye but also to touch.

Art + Technology + Accessibility

Each image we work with Didú, requires its own route. The study of the work and its artistic context tells us about the essential elements to communicate and represents the first step in a process in which everything will be conditioned by the need to obtain a true reproduction of the reality and also comprehensible for the blind person.

Our teams are made up of graphic artists, designers, retouchers, technicians and blind people affiliated to ONCE, the association for the blind. Different steps are taken in each project. From artistic interpretation, analysis of the image in terms of textures, forms, volumes, colours.... to the definition of the production parameters of each picture individually. Always with the aim of providing pictures with a new dimension of recognised pedagogical value.

Didu has managed to open, for the first time, the doors of the world of photography and pictorial images to people with visual disability. An achievement supported by ONCE, an institution that has participated in the development of Didu since is beginnings and which has guided us in the process of improving and perfecting our methodology.
